‘How should Leicester tailor its services to meet the needs of its residents who are experiencing poverty?’
Leicester City Council is bringing together lots of different organisations and individuals to develop an anti-poverty strategy for the city.
We know that more and more people in Leicester are attending food banks and seeking emergency support due to financial difficulties. Poverty is a very complex issue affected by a range of factors, including income, employment, education, health, crime, barriers to housing and other services, and the living environment. The picture looks very different across the city when we consider those factors.
In October 2019 we held a summit at City Hall to discuss poverty in Leicester. We have listed some ideas that emerged on that day to start the conversation. Please consider these, add your own ideas and comment on others. We are hoping that this debate generates both stories from real Leicester people and ideas that would help to alleviate some of the impacts of poverty on people’s lives.
