Climate change is one of the most serious threats facing the world today. Experts predict that global warming will become irreversible within 12 years unless drastic action is taken.

Along with a number of other local authorities across the UK, Leicester City Council declared a climate emergency in February 2019, and is now working on a new action plan to determine what the city needs to do to become carbon neutral.

This Dialogue challenge is an opportunity for local residents, businesses and organisations to offer ideas and comments on how we can make Leicester carbon neutral.

The 'challenge' is divided into themes (marked as ‘Ideas’ below). Each theme lists some of the actions we’re proposing. We welcome your views and comments on these proposals. You can also comment on other people’s comments and suggestions.

Additionally, we have a ‘Climate emergency pledges’ section where you can post information about what you're doing to reduce your carbon footprint / help tackle climate change.

As well as this Dialogue challenge, there are a lot of other ways you can get involved in Leicester’s Climate Emergency Conversation, including an online consultation, consultation packs for community self-led discussions and two climate assembly events. Full details can be found on our climate emergency website.
